A Wild Weekend of Music Finally Closes

Wow! What a dense weekend of music making! It began on Friday, where I shared the stage with Kirk Whalum, Jon Secada, Ann Hampton Callaway, and the Henry Mancini Orchestra for a Jazz Roots concerts at the Adrienne Arsht Center in downtown Miami celebrating Leonard Bernstein’s 100th birthday. Then, Saturday, I helped host the Frost School of Music Single Reed Day for over 50 guest student and adult saxophonists and clarinetists. We spent time working on techniques on our instruments and even learned a mass-ensemble piece which we performed that evening. Finally, Sunday I performed my first masters recital and it went great! So much in store for the rest of the year, including a saxophone quartet concert, a saxophone ensemble concert, and an audition for the President’s Own. As my dad says, “You gotta eat, drink, sleep it!”
